Vinh Moc Tunnel is located in Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province, Vietnam. These Tunnels are one of the most interesting spots to visit within the DMZ. Visitors can still tour the inside of the tunnels, which are unchanged except for a few reinforcements.
The Vinh Moc village made the decision to move their home underground after caught in the crossfire between North and South in Vietnam War.
Vinh Linh District had 20 communes and 1 town, of which 14 communes and the town had a tunnel themselves each, with the total length of over 40km, when the US started escalating the bombing of North Vietnam.
The tunnels of Vinh Linh were built in each commune to ensure the normal life for the local people and to ensure the continuity of supplies of war materials. Nowadays, only the tunnel of Vinh Moc is well-preserved and open to the public.
