Bui Vien Street is a popular backpacker destination in Ho Chi Minh City, formed in the 1990s when local travel agency Sinh Café started its first office to transfer foreign tourists in the area.

Then the local residents opened their own tourism businesses, such as accommodation, restaurants and entertainment services.

This backpacker’s hangout in Ho Chi Minh City is composed of 3 streets: Bui Vien Street, Pham Ngu Lao Street and De Tham Street in District 1, just a short walk from Ben Thanh Market. Nowadays, Bui Vien Street has quickly turned into a zone for foreigners.

There is a wide variety of hotels, art galleries, gift and fashion shops, restaurants and travel companies. Most backpackers travel to Vietnam always head to these 3 streets.
