The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is located in a large open area on Nguyen Van Huyen Street, about 8 km from Hanoi central. It is one of the country’s premier museums, focuses on the 54 officially recognized ethnic groups in Vietnam.
Occupying a fine modern structure, the terrific collection features well-presented tribal art, artifacts and everyday objects gathered from across the nation, such as knives, baskets, garments, flutes, pipes and mats.
These objects reflect tangible and intangible cultural heritages of the communities, representing lives and creative activities of the people. Displays are well-labelled in Vietnamese, French and English.
