Van Hanh Zen Monastery is located in Dalat, Lam Dong Province.
This monastery is not only attracted monks, nuns, Buddhists and worshiping pilgrims, but also considered to be one of the unique cultural sight showing specific characteristics of Buddhist architecture. The superior Buddhist monk Thich Vien Thanh has built the pagoda on an area of 2 hectare in 1980.
The most well-known sight of this monastery is a 24 m high and 20 m wide golden Buddha statue raising a lotus in his hand (statue of Sakyamuni Buddha) – a symbolic image of Buddha in Linh Son Dharma Conference, expressing the philosophy of “existence in nihilism” in Buddhist Zen.
