Mae Klong River

Mae Klong River

Region:Western Thailand

Mae Klong River

Considered the most important river in western Thailand, Mae Klong river was formed by the joining of the Kwae Noi and Kwae Yai river the river at Kanchanaburi. It flows through Ratchaburi, to the Gulf of Thailand at Samut Songkhram.

The river is 150 km in length and forms the central highway of complex set of canals, khlongs and tributaries, that have been used as routes to transport locally produced and traded goods for centuries.

The hundreds of temples that line the banks of the river create an incredibly mysterious and atmospheric scenery.
