22 July Roundabout

The circle was made during King Rama VI’s reign to provide public space in Hua Lamphong area. Three roads were built and meet at the circle. They were all named Yisipsong Karakadakhom (July 22) after the date Thailand joined World War I on July 22, 1917.

Later, in the reign of King Rama VII, the road’s name was changed to three different names. First road was named Maitrichit, the second was named Mitsamphan, and the third was named Sathiphap. The previous name of the road then became the name of the circle.
