Keang Krachan Dam, at the middle of the eastern border of Kaeng Krachan National Park, is the first earthern dam constructed in Thailand. Its reservoir is fed by forested watershed which extend to the Tenasserim mountain range dividing the watersheds of the Gulf of Siam and the Andaman Sea.
Built in 1966 and created a reservoir of 46.5 sq.km, Kaeng Krachan Dam is a multi-purposes hydro-electric project in Phetchaburi Province that provides water for irrigation, fishery, and power generation.
It has become tourists attraction site with beautiful scenery, camping, water sports, resorts and golf club.
