Mandalay

Second largest city of the country and the former royal capital of Myanmar. A city of many sights presenting the traveller with gem covered and gold gilded temples and monasteries.

Mandalay is not an ancient city, founded only in 1857, but is a centre for silk and cotton weaving, marble carving, bronze and silver crafts and Kalaga tapestries.
