Mandalay the last royal capital of Myanmar (Burma)

Mandalay is not an ancient city, founded only in 1857, but is a center for silk and cotton weaving, marble carving, bronze and silver crafts and Kalaga tapestries.

Excursions out of Mandalay include the monastery and pagoda covered hills of Sagaing, former ancient capitals of Amarapura and Ava, as well as a scenic upriver trip to Mingun, with the world’s largest bronze bell.

Second largest city of the country and the former royal capital of Myanmar. A city of many sights presenting the traveller with gem covered and gold gilded temples and monasteries.
