Thommanon Hindu Temple

Built in the late 11th to first half of the 12th century, during the reign of the King Suryavarman II, Thommanon is a small yet elegant Angkor temple, erected by the same king that built the majestic Angkor Wat.

The attractive point of Thommanon is the statue of devata – the sacred women – in traditional attire with distinctive accessories like necklaces, armbands, belts and ankle bands which is very similar to other women statue of Angkor Thom.

In the late afternoon, the temple’s main tower gives off hues of salmon, deep red, oxidized copper, and tan. The colors of theses age stained sandstone against the jungle are very photogenic, particularly in the rainy season.
