Dinosaur Site 9 Lan Hin Lad Yao, Phu Wiang National Park

Dinosaur Fossils This site was discovered in August 1993, containing left pelvis and 10 caudal vertebrae ot a new genus and new species ol carnivorous dinosaurs named Siamotyrannus isanensis by Buffataut, Suteethon and Tong, 1996.

This theropod was about 6.5 meters long and probably an ancestor of T-rex (Tyrannosaurus rex). The fossils were found in red sandstone ot the Sao Knua Formation from the early Cretaceous period, about 130 million years ago.
