Khao Sam Roi Yod National Park has become a hot spot for bird watchers, due to over 300 species found in this park. It is also one of the best areas to observe shorebirds in Thailand. Between Novembers to April more than 100 of migratory shorebirds from Northern Europe, Siberia and China will arrive at mudflats to feed and rest, then continuing their journey to South.

Birdwatching in Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park
Some of them will spend the winter months hear. These birds will begin the long return journey back to the Northern breeding grounds in March and May.
The freshwater marsh near the village of Rong Jay offers a good opportunity to observe a number of large water birds, songbirds and raptors. This marsh is one of only 2 sites in Thailand where the Purple Heron breeds.
